The Bavaria K 540 G camper is a 5.41 m long compact with a transverse bed. In the special X-Edition series, it benefits from a very rich standard equipment. Text: Delphine Besana – Photos Virginie Pellagali.
For two years, the X-Edition finish was reserved for just two models: the K600G and the K630J. One of the key new features of the 2022 range is that the small K540 G also benefits from it from the start.

Decoration: mainly light
On board, the new boy reveals a pleasant and bright atmosphere thanks to the white and wood color of the furniture. With the standard cabin cutout, this compact offers a cozy space in the living room. Composed of a forward-facing bench seat (42 x 83 cm) with three-point belt and integrated headrest and two swivel cab seats, four guests can be seated around a rectangular table (83.5 x 40 cm), a bit narrow. But a rotatable extension (40 x 50 cm) extends the blade, a very useful addition. Here, no one will suffer from a lack of natural light, thanks to the presence of a panoramic skylight and side windows. Practical, an additional stowage compartment under the bench seat completes the overhead storage space. On the decorative side, the imitation leather upholstery is in perfect harmony with the color and shape of the furniture.

Van or motorhome: how to choose
Kitchen and bathroom
It is not surprising that the kitchen on a 5.41 m vehicle is small, but remains functional. It has a two ring hob, stainless steel sink and 85 liter compression fridge, which is located under the mini worktop. The latter is completed by an extendable shelf (42.5 x 25 cm), to the left of the cabinet, which is very practical. On the storage side, you can count on a wall cabinet and three drawers with the right volumes at the bottom. The storage capacity seems more modest in the bathroom playing the 3-in-1 card and thus modularity. For example, the sink that can be folded up against the wall frees up space for the toilet and shower. Of the correct size (48 x 80 x h185 cm), the latter is not equipped with a curtain but has a good seal due to the plastic walls and the sliding door. The presence of a skylight, two mirrors and LEDs guarantee ventilation and brightness.

Update on the novelties of Bavaria in 2022
Bedroom: transverse bed, and that makes sense
As with all vans, the rear part is dedicated to the bedroom. And the circulation is done well by a 50 cm wide corridor, from the cabin. Bavaria has placed a narrower transverse double bed (130/112 x 180 cm) at the foot end, a mandatory configuration in a compact format. It has a 12 cm thick Bultex mattress on a slatted base. The atmosphere is warm thanks to the natural light through the skylight and the windows on the two rear doors. We will appreciate the presence of two adjustable reading lights and a storage compartment at the head of the bed. To charge your connected devices, there are also two USB connections in the sleeping area. Installed at a height of 86cm from the ground (holding required), but we regret that access to the bed is not facilitated by a small step requiring some effort for someone under 1.67m. It is not surprising that the central part of the bed in the middle of the bed base has been raised to allow the transport of two-wheelers. The hold meanwhile has a good storage capacity supplemented with side cabinets.
