In addition to the existing state engineer training, such as Civil Engineering, the UPF will offer a new state engineer training “Digital Transformation” and a master’s degree “Data science”. Also planned is the opening of a new facility for quality training in health professions. A way to invest in progress by participating in the challenges of globalization we are witnessing. Mohammed Aziz Lahlou, president of the UPF, tells more in this interview.
What is the place of the professions of the future in your training offer?
The Private University of Fez plans to open a new institution for quality education in health professions, the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences and Health Techniques of Fez, from the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year. Likewise, new courses will be launched within the Faculty of Engineering, the business school of Fès and the Graduate School of Architecture and Building Trades.
With regard to the training offer of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, and in addition to the already existing state engineering courses, such as Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy and Energy Systems Engineering, Systems started…, this offer will start from the start of the next school year, with a new state engineering course “Digital Transformation ” and a master’s degree in “Data Science”.
As for the business school of Fès, and in addition to the diplomas of the National Schools of Commerce and Management (ENCG) in Accounting, Control and Audit (CCA), in Supply Chain Management (SCM), and other sectors and training, the offer offers of the business school of Fès will be expanded with the launch of three professional licenses, Accounting and Tax Management, Management of Organizations (Option Human Resources Management) and Management of Organizations (Option Business Administration), a fundamental license “Political Science and Legal” and a master’s degree in “Hospital Management”.
From the beginning of the next school year, the new Faculty of Paramedical Sciences and Health Techniques will offer its training offer, consisting of five professional licenses, “Multipurpose Nursing Care”, “Anesthesia-Resuscitation Nursing Care”, “Laboratory Techniques”, “Dietetics and Nutrition”, “General Psychology” and a Master in “Clinical Psychology”.
The Graduate School of Architecture and Building Trades should not be left behind as we have submitted a new “Architecture” course for accreditation in addition to the already existing State Engineering courses such as Architecture d’Interior and design, Landscape architecture and urban planning & planning.
After the digital boom caused by the crisis, how does the UPF sustain this progress in terms of its learning processes?
The Moroccan University, as a pillar of the country’s development, shaping the present and building the future, must invest in progress by participating in the challenges of globalization that we are witnessing.
This globalization is characterized by the globalization of trade, by regional groupings of an economic nature, by the deepening of the digital divide between rich and poor countries, limiting access to information as a factor of sustainable development and increasing competition in terms of technology monopoly, knowledge and know-how.
The UPF must thus adapt its model to exploit the potential of digital technology, increase the quality of its educational model and above all, the professional integration of its graduates. The new generations of students we receive at UPF are shocked by digital technology.
These young people expect university to be more flexible, better adapted to new technologies and, above all, more accessible to all through digital libraries, online courses and free access to digital content. Social networks should also play a central role in study courses and allow the establishment of participatory and collaborative education and a real follow-up between the different promotions.
Within the UPF, we have adapted to this new situation and offer our students adequate digital work environments that match their specific needs. In addition, to strengthen the program of its digital transformation, the UPF is joined by the leader of equipment and computer software packages related to electronic payments.
Thanks to this program, which combines electronic payment technologies with digital applications specific to the educational ecosystem, the UPF offers its students an innovative card that combines:
– A multi-service Campus card: access control, borrowing from the library, registering for exams, administrative e-services, etc.
– Interoperable payment card & application: chip card, instant money transfer, top-up, payment at all TPEs, withdrawals at all ATMs, budget management… With this radical transformation, the UPF officially becomes the first 100% digital university in the region.
