How the virtual world and the real world merge, and what are the underlying issues for companies.
Still a vague and distant concept, the metavers is often defined as a parallel universe, made up of virtual worlds. However, this concept is nothing new as it was first described in Daniel Galouye’s novel “Simulacron 3” published in the United States in 1964. The term, derived from the contraction of meta and universe, is regularly used to describe a future version of the Internet, where one can have fun and exchange, work, and also transact, especially through NFTs. Second Life had set the stage in the early 2000s as the pioneer of a social and economic platform based on a micropayment system, where users had the intellectual property of their creations and were free to build their own spaces and their communities. But in recent months, this new trend has been needed everywhere: in luxury especially, but not only. Many companies, such as Meta (ex-Facebook) or Microsoft, make huge investments there. Creation of immersive 3D spaces, new generation events, 3D commerce, sale of virtual products or works of art, augmented reality, avatarization,… How virtual world and real world merge in this context, and above all what opportunities this offers representing for companies? And what are the limits? One thing is for sure, if they don’t all have a clear strategy in this area yet, most are convinced that they can’t just stand on the side of the road.
So many questions our experts will answer duringa conference accessible online, Thursday 19 May† You will discover an overview of the metaverse platforms (Minecratft, Roblox, Decentraland, Sandbox, Fortnite, etc.) and the most popular NFT technologies (Opensea, Rarible, Metamask, etc.), and their use in different sectors (luxury, fashion, beauty, entertainment,…).
