Outdated offices, outdated hotels: Edgar Suites applies a very current trend in its own way, that of recycling. Founded in 2016 by three partners – Xavier O’Quin, but also Maxime and Grégoire Benoit – this group specializes in converting outdated buildings into long stay accommodation solutions† While Edgar Suites now has some twenty addresses in France – most in Paris and two in Bordeaux – the last opening took place in mid-April in the capital, at 25 rue du Jour.
For the occasion, it dealt with the transformation of a building of the 17th century, the Hôtel de la Porte, which for a time housed the headquarters of the Paris Bar, and until 2020 a museum that tells the history of Parisian lawyers and important cases , among more the trials of Dreyfus and Straviski or that of Marie-Antoinette. Old stones, wrought iron, a grand staircase and a monumental lounge: it is in this environment full of charm and history that Edgar Suites has installed ten apartments that combine modern comfort with the cachet of the past and furnished in collaboration with Selency, specialist in second-hand furniture.
As in its other properties, Edgar Suites offers: “urban suites”ie studios, but mainly two or three bedroom apartments that are neatly furnished and equipped with a kitchen with first-class utensils. † With a large television and a powerful fiber optic connection, everything is done so that customers can work in peace, receive friends or watch Netflix.“, underlines the co-founder of the group.
to this experience like homeEdgar Suites also adds services such as tea and coffee provided, rental bicycles or even a driver to pick up the traveler at the airport. † We also have nice surprises in store for our customers.adds Maxime Benoit. For example, upon their arrival, a welcome basket awaits them in the apartment. We offer them tote bags to go shopping. †
Limited but digital services
Although the establishments as such do not have a physical reception, the apartments are accessible via a code lock, activated at 3 p.m. on the day of arrival and deactivated at 11 a.m. on the day of departure. However, versatile flight attendants are on hand to assist customers in packing their bags. And to make up for the lack of staff, Edgar Suites has a digital concierge via whatsapp. † With response within a minute“, Maxime Benoit assures.
If Edgar Suite reaches a leisure clientele, but also and above all business clients with strategic locations for this clientele. For example, the first branch opened near the exhibition center in Porte de Versailles, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, while Edgar Suites also has a residence near the Parc du Princes and businesses in Boulogne, another in Levallois. , not far from L’Oréal’s headquarters and close to La Défense, while the group is based in Bordeaux in the business district of Mériadeck.
† With this concept of boutique aparthotels we wanted to dust off the city residencesays Maxime Benoit. Many companies have agreements with hotels, but we realize that the demands of employees change, that they want to more spacious places where you can cook, receive friends† The formula is popular, as Edgar Suites announces an occupancy rate of over 90%. When long-distance customers, previously the majority, disappeared during the pandemic, the presence was supported by local customers.
† We see more and more French and Europeans who take the opportunity to visit Paris while teleworking or people who have left Paris to live in Marseille, Lyon or Bordeaux and come to us for several days by grouping their appointments“, notes Maxime Benoit. Among its regular customers, Edgar Suites can also count on business groups who, in coliving, take a large apartment with several bedrooms – with private bathrooms – grouped around a kitchen and a common living room.
