The place

It’s new and it sucks. Opened on October 1, 2021, in the small industrial area of ​​Mouroux, the restaurant l’Oasis has already made a name for itself in the village. With a capacity of 55 seats inside and about twenty on the terrace, this establishment is a real invitation to travel, for the taste buds of course, but not only.

From the entrance, a life-sized dromedary immediately sets the mood, a unique piece in France imported from the Philippines. While two palm trees stand out masterfully against the orange briquette wall. Welcome to Morocco, or almost. Here the tables do not have a number but the name of the cities of the country: Casablanca, Tangier or Marrakech.

At the bar, made from a hundred-year-old four-meter oak that fell during the storm of 1999, you can enjoy a cocktail with colleagues or friends. While sitting in the dining room, we sink into the XXL sofas. No mosaics or tiles here. “We wanted to break the codes,” explains Alexandre Yahia, as the speakers broadcast jazz and soul in a sweet scent of spices. A wall of plant water seeps to the right. For a relaxing break, a hammock chair.

“An instagramable zone,” says the boss. A change of scenery, but in modernity! The latter imagined his restaurant during the incarceration. A dream that becomes reality.

The ghost

A single password: benevolence. Because at the Oasis, friendliness and a feeling of welcome prevail. The team is very caring. “Customers don’t forget us, a warm welcome is just as important, if not more important, than the menu”, analyzes Alexandre Yahia. Result: some can come back up to six times a month. The Oasis is a bit like their HQ! We know their first names, their favorite place, etc. »

Regular guests who are therefore not disappointed in the trip. It must be said that the change of scenery is even in the dishes, imported from Morocco. “ Plates, teapots, etc.: We bought 4000 pieces from a craftsman in a coastal town. Everything is done by hand. It was during covid, the borders were closed. It was my aunt who arranged it on the spot, I did my shopping on video thanks to Facetime! Note that each table has USB ports to charge the battery of electronic devices. It is in an atmosphere that is both modern and traditional that lovers of Moroccan cuisine can indulge themselves in the Oasis.

The team

So to the control Alexandre Yahia, 25 years old. This child of Mouroux of Moroccan descent still remembers the family tables. “I grew up in the kitchen,” says the manager. So when the transport company he worked for closed down, hit by the epidemic, it was only natural that Alexandre Yahia decided to take over the vacant property near Mouroux to open his restaurant. : “I said to myself

that the covid would eventually go away. The room is large, 140 sqm and 80 sqm room, the private parking makes parking easy. There are no other restaurants nearby. It was really a great opportunity. †

In his project, Alexandre Yahia involves his wife, Alicia Abella, 24 years old. The latter permanently leaves her job at Sephora in Val d’Europe to take up the adventure. Two chefs complete this family team.

the board

It is therefore a real culinary journey that awaits visitors to the Oasis. Generous portions of meze in six flavors on the plate, Moroccan salad bowls, a bestseller to start the meal. Always as a starter, bricks with minced meat, but also with tuna and vegan. As a main course, of course, the indispensable couscous. Vegetarian, merguez, meatballs, lamb or chicken: take your pick!

The house specialty? The mechoui made of lamb shank flavored with cumin and coarse salt, but also the Royal Oasis, a couscous with a mix of all meats.

The chef also makes way for tajines: candied chicken with lemon, olives, lamb and veal braised with almonds. For dessert, an assortment of Moroccan pies, gazelle horns, makrout and its delicate orange blossom, pistachio almond and honey puff pastry, or even briouates.
